The Syrian goalkeeper turned rebel fighter who starred in an award-winning documentary died of his wounds today aged 27 after fighting regime forces in northwest Syria, a monitor and his faction said.
Al-Sarout was a goalkeeper from the central city of Homs, who became its most popular singer of protest songs after Syrian uprising broke out in March 2011.
