TURKEY - SYRIA - QUAKE

TURKEY - SYRIA - QUAKE
In this photograph taken on February 12, 2023, a woman walks by the destroyed Habib-i Neccar mosque in the historic southern city of Antakya in Hatay, Turkey, a week after an earthquake devastated parts of Turkey and Syria leaving more than 35,000 dead and millions in dire need of aid. Antakya, formerly known as "Antioch", was founded in 300 BC by a former general of Alexander the Great and draws its heritage from the many civilizations that have established a presence there: Greek, Roman, Arab, Persian, Ottoman, as well as a short French mandate between the end of World War I and 1939, when the city was returned to Turkey.
