French champion Alain Mimoun crosses victoriously the finish line of the Olympics marathon event, on November 22, 1956 at the Olympic stadium in Melbourne. Most medaled French athlete, Mimoun has during his career captured 32 French champion titles, middle distance, long distance, cross and marathon between 1947 and 1966. He won four Olympics medals : gold, marathon1956, silver, 5,000 m in 1952, 10,000 in 1948 and 1952. World cross champion in 1949, 52, 54 and 56. French selection recordman (85).
