PERU - SHINING PATH

PERU - SHINING PATH
In this photo released by the Peruvian Communist Party 24 June, members of the Shining Path guerrilla movement appear with a statement demanding that the government allow Shining Path founder Abimael Guzman to appear in public, after erroneous rumors of his death were circulated earlier this week. Guzman is serving a life sentence at the maximum security prison at the Callao Naval Base, north of Lima. The document reportedly also demanded that Guzman be allowed to present his plan for peace talks with the government. The sign reads, "Fight for a peace agreement." AFP PHOTOS
